Here's a mind exercise: imagine you're holding a feather in your left hand. With your right hand, feel the feather from the bottom to the tip. Imagine feeling each individual feather vane as you go up. Then take that feather and imagine tickling your brain with it. Tickle tickle tickle! Do it on the amygdala, which controls our emotions. Did you get a smile from it? If so, you just activated your brain.
I learned about this exercise from Neil Slade, who is very knowledgeable of the brain and its functionality. Although it's a simple imaginative exercise, it's one that allows us to have an influence of our cognitive functions. It's like going to the gym and doing some bench-presses or practicing drawing a picture over and over. It's a way to activate different parts of the brain and strengthen our consciousness.
