YoM Day 7: Life is what you make it

Yesterday, we talked about learning to just be. Today is a new day.
"Everyone is in the best seat." - John Cage
This connects many themes. The present is eternal and all is well when we live for the sake of living and nothing else. Yesterday already happened and tomorrow will always be just out of our reach. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it's called the present. So why do we desire to be somewhere else? Now is the best time because that's when we can actually do the things we want.

There's also a lesson in everything we experience. It could be as clear as day or subtle like the magician's hands. Although the signs are there, many of us choose not to notice them and we end up missing out on the finer points in life.

We are all in the best seat in that each of us is unique. We all have our own paths we can walk down and it is ultimately up to us and our perspective to make the best out of any situation. We are in the best seat when we decide our seat is worthy of all of our expectations.

This might be considered a very optimistic and positive outlook on life (especially since some people go through some really harsh struggles), but it's also important to remember that we all suffer. We all go through hardship, yet some never get back up while others ascend to the next level. In my mind, it all has to do with our outlook and perspective.

In other words, a growth-oriented mindset can transform a life filled with hardship into a life filled with opportunity. Rather than letting life's lessons get you down, you can choose to rise to the challenge and blossom out of the mud like the elegant lotus. We all possess this potential. We are our own greatest enemy and thus we can sit at the top if we allow ourselves to.

The rest of your life could also be the best of your life.
