What if...Star Wars became history

Sometimes I have random trains of thought, and they tend to get bizarre, so I thought I'd write some down for fun. Life doesn't have to be serious all of the time and it's good to take a breather every now and then.

When I think of our ancient ancestors and cave drawings, I think about art and expression. I think about how we now often use art as a medium of story-telling. Movies, music, etc. are all forms of art that let the artist pour their hearts out. The difference between now and then is that our technology has advanced to where we can create digital worlds with the stroke of a hand and the clicks of our fingers. Movies and video games are the modern novels and a common source of entertainment.

What if our ancestors were much like we were today? What if they wrote stories that paralleled their actual lives as a means of entertainment? The Egyptians worshiped the gods and talked about how they blessed with divine knowledge. History talks about how they used sacred stones as a means of respecting and receiving their blessings. What if all of that was just a delusional fantasy they created to keep themselves from being piss bored? The hieroglyphs in the pyramids? All the legacy of artists and architects who wanted to leave behind something great for their descendants to look at. What if it was like a giant amusement park for them and people would gather inside the pyramids to have fun. The stories we see inside them happen to be the popular stories with reoccurring characters. We know many pyramids had chambers that contained food and water. What if that was a vendors' hall? What if the reason we see multiple interpretations of various gods is because other artists decided to take that same idea and created a story of their own? We see it all of the time in movies, books, and comics. What if that's what our ancestors did? What if historians just got it all wrong? Wouldn't that be hilarious?

People often read too deeply into things when they're looking for answers. Sometimes, this process ends up in us finding an answer in something that doesn't really show anything. We just interpret it as something significant because we've been wanting to find an explanation for something. For example, what if the person you had a crush on started up a conversation and was being really friendly and nice to you? Sometimes people read too deeply into it and conclude that they must be in to you, too. But oftentimes that person was just being nice. The same applies in research all of the time, where people find false-positives within results because they try too hard to prove their hypothesis. So what if the secret to the pyramids, other secret monuments, and various religious texts is that there is no secret? It's just a story - fanfiction. The ancient texts that refer to them? What if that was their newspaper equivalent? Or someone's critique on modern art at the time?

Star Wars is huge. Really huge. There are dozens of novels dedicated to various points in time within the universe. How funny would it be if our descendants 1000 years from now remembered the Star Wars sagas as historical eras in history? What sort of explanations would we come up with to rationalize why we're still on Earth? Would we still be on Earth? How would they perceive the technology from the movies? Would they make cults out of the Jedi and Sith orders? Would that become the new standard for religion? "Good" and "bad", light and dark? Would people go on about how we used to know the ways of the force and that it is now a long-lost art forgotten by our people? Or would our core beliefs enable us to use the force and perform the arts done in the movies? Our mind is more powerful than we know. How cool would it be if our world's logic completely changed by a simple difference in core beliefs?

Before I ramble on too much, let me get to the point: what if?
I think that's one of the more interesting questions to ask. It lets our imagination go wild with possibilities. What if? I like asking myself that for all sorts of things. I find it helps with my writing, my drawing, and various other aspects of my life. Try it. Who knows what thoughts you'll come up with?
