YoM Day 62: Laugh a little

Yesterday,  I talked about being responsible for things. Today is a new day.
"And we should consider every day lost on which we have not danced at least once. And we should call every truth false which was not accompanied by at least one laugh." - Friedrich Nietzsche
You ever spend an entire day doing absolutely nothing, not even the things you enjoy? When that happens, I usually feel bad and regret not having done anything productive or entertaining. We all have days where we have to get things done and have to put off doing the things we want to. Those days suck. We're meant to take breaks. Not even machines can go on forever without taking time to rest, yet some people prioritize work and getting things done so much that they forget to make time for themselves. It drains away at us slowly but surely.

However, I don't completely agree with Nietzsche's words. There are certainly some hard truths in this world that aren't funny. The importance lies in learning to see the brighter side of life. Rather than focusing on all of the negative things going on, learn to laugh a little and you'll come to see that not everything needs to be taken so seriously. Sometimes simply joking around with others produces some of the most enjoyable and essential moments in our lives.

The point is to spend time doing the things you like at least once a day and not take everything so seriously. There needs to be a good balance between work and leisure. Doing only one or the other throws us out of sync and leads to stress, anxiety, and all things unwanted. Even in the darkest of times Nietzsche, who lived a hard and difficult life, managed to live a life of joy through seeing the good in things.

Laughter is often the best medicine.
                                                                                                                         Peace
Laugh a little
Why so serious? Laugh a little.
